Entergy’s storm team, made up of nearly 9,000 resources, remain on the system and work to restore the remaining approximately 500 clients who are able to safely receive power, as well as power up. electricity available to customers in the most devastated areas. Although thousands of customers in the hard-hit Bayou region cannot pick up electricity at this time, our teams continue to rebuild our facilities and we will work with FEMA to make electricity available to these customers. . In the parish of Lafourche, in total, about 3,700 customers remain out of service, but the majority are currently unable to receive electricity safely due to the devastating effects of Hurricane Ida. Crews continue to restore power to the Port Fourchon, Golden Meadow and Galliano areas so that power is available when our customers are ready. In the parish of Terrebonne, approximately 500 customers remain without electricity in total. The majority of these remaining clients are in the southern part of the parish where a rebuilding of our system is needed. In lower Jefferson Parish, there are approximately 3,000 customers without power, the majority of those customers being in the Grand Isle area. Teams are in the area rebuilding transmission and distribution infrastructure to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. We remain committed to catering until the last customer has lights.

As we continue to rebuild alongside our communities in Southeast Louisiana, we ask our customers and the public to stay safe where work takes place. Avoid distractions and broken electrical equipment. Also be aware of traffic controllers as they work to deal with traffic jams on the roads.

We would like to remind our customers that if you live in a neighborhood that has been restored but you do not have electricity in your home, you are likely to have electrical damage. If you are without power, check the electrical equipment in your home or business for damage and contact an electrician to make repairs. If your electrical equipment appears to be intact, text 36778 or call 1-800-9OUTAGE. Be especially careful when inspecting your home in an area where power has been restored, as the wires will be live. Be smart, be careful, and call a licensed electrician to check it for you. Sometimes the damage can be subtle. For example, your meter can be removed from your house only a few inches and this can be difficult to detect. Remember that an inspection by a licensed electrician of your property’s electrical wiring may be necessary before Entergy can restore power to a home or business damaged by rain or flooding.

Customers should keep in mind that just because electricity is available doesn’t mean their home can safely accept it. Number of outages: The number of outages will continue to fluctuate throughout the day as teams work on lines and bring customers in and out.

Notes on the area: Although the estimated restoration date is September 29 for the vast majority or 90% of customers, we have already started supplying essential facilities and other social infrastructure in the parish before that date. We plan to continue on this path as we expand to residential areas and restore power to the parish. The neighborhood has suffered enormous damage and the electricity grid in the southern parts of the parish will have to be completely rebuilt. These areas, including Golden Meadow and areas south of Golden Meadow, may experience blackouts that extend beyond September 29. We are currently evaluating alternative solutions to be able to supply electricity safely as quickly as possible. The majority of Lockport, Raceland, Matthews and Cutoff customers who can take the power have been restored, including the Bollinger Shipyard. In the community of Valentine, teams have made significant strides in restoring electricity to customers and have distribution resources focused on restoring power to the Lockport area, including Lafourche Parish Career Magnet and the LE Fletcher Community College South campus. Crews continue to restore power to Golden Meadow. A significant amount of damage remains in this area; however, additional teams have been moved to the area to assist with the restoration efforts. Crews will continue to restore power where it is safe to do so. Electricity was restored to South Lafourche High School and Lady of the Sea Hospital and we were able to use a mobile substation to power the LOOP tank farm and supply a number of customers. Restoration teams continue to restore power to the Galliano area. There is still a significant amount of damage. Additional teams have been moved to the area to assist and the teams will continue to restore power where it is safe to do so.

Lower Jefferson Parish – Estimated restoration date: September 29
Number of outages: The number of outages will continue to fluctuate throughout the day as teams work on lines and bring customers in and out.

Notes on the area: The area has suffered tremendous damage. Accessibility issues continue to present challenges. Grand Isle will be a rebuild rather than a repair.

Parish of Terrebonne – Estimated date of restoration: September 29

Notes on the area: Although the estimated restoration date is September 29 for the vast majority or 90% of customers, we have already started supplying essential facilities and other social infrastructure in the parish before that date. Continued need for traffic control and specialized equipment to assist in areas with accessibility issues. As we move south, we move more towards a status of rebuilding. There are many customers whose homes or businesses have been destroyed and will need to contact Entergy to finalize the account until their home or business site can be cleaned and rebuilt. Customers are encouraged to check their circuit breakers if they find that their neighbors have power and still don’t. The majority of Terrebonne Parish West customers have been restored, most of the outages being left in the Coteau substation area. Teams continue to work on individual transformer tickets and taps across the network. Work continues along Route 182 at 98% completion; 100% waterways. Teams continue to address issues, including an area near Alma Street and Monarch Promenade in Houma. We completed work north of Highway 90 off Little Bayou Black and power has been restored, including Fletcher Technical Community College to K&B. In the Houma substation area, we have energized the main distribution lines and are continuing to repair the bypasses and taps. We have completed most of the side line and valve repairs outside the Houma substation area. Work on individual transformer boxes will continue. Major work continues in the Chauvin and Montegut substation sectors, including highways 55, 56 and 58.

STORM RESTORATION PROCESS

  • Following a storm, we deploy scouts to assess the damage. Our scouts work as quickly and safely as possible in sometimes very dangerous conditions. As the damage is assessed, we will communicate with you the conditions found along with an estimated recovery time and our progress towards restoring your diet. We ask you to be patient and know that restoring your diet safely and quickly is our top priority.

  • As we assess the damage, we will begin to restore service to where it is deemed safe to do so.

  • To help ensure a smooth resumption of service, we ask customers with outages to turn off or unplug their air conditioners and major appliances so that when power is restored, these appliances can be gradually turned back on.
